Named a "Hero in Healthcare" by Truman Medical Centers\, attendees will discover how this female leader in the healthcare industry strongly represents women in STEM and creates positive change for her organization. \n\n \n\n\nSpeaker Bio:\n\n\n\nMitzi Cardenas is an information technology and healthcare executive with more than 19 years in the healthcare industry\, serves as Sr. Vice President\, Strategy\, Business Development and Technology at Truman Medical Centers (TMC).\n\n\n\nIn her current role\, Cardenas provides leadership to the organization in developing leading clinical and administrative information systems and technology. She also recently led a comprehensive three-year strategic planning process that resulted in the development of a three-year strategic plan. In addition\, Cardenas has worked with TMC's organizational leadership to implement an electronic health record that followed a 13-month quality-focused plan. From this effort\, TMC recently earned a fourth consecutive Healthcare's Most Wired designation from Hospitals and Health Networks Magazine as well as the prestigious Stage 7 designation for both acute care and ambulatory from HIMSS Analytics. In addition\, the AHIMA Grace Award recognizing excellence in use of technology was recently awarded. She has been instrumental in developing healthcare information exchanges at both the State and regional levels\, serving in key board positions over the last several years. \n\n\n\nCardenas was Co-chair of the Technology and Operations Workgroup for the Missouri Health Connection for two years and also served as the Chair of the Missouri Hospital Association's HIT Committee. She currently serves on the Executive Committee for the Lewis and Clark Health Information Exchange as well as several national advisory and vendor committees. Cardenas has been invited to speak across the country on a number of important topics related to healthcare IT. \n\n\n\nPrior to joining TMC\, Cardenas held leadership roles in a pediatric academic medical center\, the military health system\, and a multi-hospital healthcare delivery system. She received her bachelor's degree in business administration from the University of Texas at Arlington and a master's of science degree from Troy State University.
