CXS | The Child Protection Project - A Child Sexual Abuse Prevention Presentation for Parents and Other Caring Adults
We all do a good job of teaching our children about "stranger danger" but 99% of the children interviewed by Sunflower House can name their alleged perpetrator. Most sexual abuse happens by people the children know, love and trust and occurs in all socioeconomic levels. This presentation was created using compelling video testimonies of a survivor and parents whose children were victimized who share their first hand experiences and advice to others. Participants will learn safety tips and effective methods to talk with children about this delicate subject. It answers the questions:
- How can we be more proactive in protecting children?
-At what age should parents start talking to their child about personal safety?
-If a child discloses abuse, what should I say?
While an uncomfortable subject, listening to this powerful presentation may protect a child you love from the real risks of sexual exploitation.
Bev Turner has been the Education Program Director at Sunflower House for over ten years, developing and promoting education programs to the community, including schools, early childhood centers, professional and community organizations, as well as on regional, state and national levels.
