DT | Hope House: The Impacts of Domestic Violence in our Community
Presentation by CEO - Mary Anne Metheny, Hope House
Hope House is dedicated to assisting those affected by domestic violence find refuge and freedom. Hope House's mission is to break the cycle of domestic violence and advocate social change that protects and enables a person's right to live a life free of abuse.
Sometimes knowing if someone is abusive or not can be difficult. Hope House has put together a list of common warning signs or "red flags" to watch out for. Hope House relies on the generosity of supporters to achieve its mission of providing safety and support for survivors of domestic violence and their families. When we arm our community with information about the prevalence and impact of domestic violence, we give people the tools to take a stand against domestic violence.
Ms. Metheny has work for the agency in various capacities since she joined Hope House in 1992. As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with a Masters of Social Work degree, Mary Anne began as Hope House's first shelter therapist. She then served as the shelter coordinator, associate director, vice president of operations and chief operating officer. She is a member of Blue Springs Rotary, serving as president in 2014-15. Ms. Metheny serves on the Lee's Summit Human Services Advisory Board, the Missouri Housing Trust Fund Advisory Board and is a member of the policy committee.
