DESCRIPTION:This program has been canceled.\n\nNavigating senior healthcare and living options is confusing at best. Does insurance pay or is private pay? Do my loved ones need independent living or a senior apartment? Will a villa or townhome really work for their needs. What is private duty care and who pays? What if they need home health or a rehab? This program is designed to provide you resources and define the levels of care available so as your loved ones age\, you can help make decisions that will work for their needs. We will also touch briefly on addressing caregiver fatigue and patient advocacy.\n\n\n\nThis presentation is designed to provide information and resources for those caring for aging loved ones.  Participants will be able to:\n\n1. Define home-based services including medical and private duty\n\n2. Define senior living options and levels of care available\n\n3. Understands signs of caregiver fatigue and how to advocate for your loved one\n\n\n\n Karen Wheeler joined Brookdale Senior Living Solutions in August of 2016 as Area Director of Community Relations. In this role she works with nine of the area Brookdale communities assisting them with event planning\, media relations and referral source development. She prides herself as a community resource for seniors\, their families and industry professionals.\n\nKaren joined the senior industry with a wide variety of experience in the healthcare and business marketing/sales arena. She has worked in both physician relations and ancillary healthcare services marketing\, as well as provided employer services to human resource professionals. Karen's background and expertise is in marketing\, communications\, business development and public relations. Her passion is serving seniors through referral source education\, client services and customer relations. Karen graduated from Kansas State University with a B.S. in Journalism and Mass Communications\, Public Relations with and emphasis in Business Management. Additional training includes Chamber Management Institute and Six Sigma training.
