SUMMARY:DT | Listen: Be Brilliant with Mary A. Redmond
DESCRIPTION:We listen to our own inner conversation or to others in our home and at work from the moment we wake until we lay our head on the pillow at night. Communication is exhausting. \n\n\n\nWe know that to our ear\; the sweetest sound is not the sound of our spouse professing their love to us or the sound of our first-born cooing in the cradle. Nope\, it's the sound of our own voice eloquently debating or extemporizing about a subject that may or may not have anything to do with the conversation that was going on prior to our mouth opening. \n\nThe shocking revelation is that if we'd stifle our brilliance\, we'd be more successful and happy. That may not be the medicine you want to take but it will help you progress in your career. Early on in life\, we learned that we think faster that others can talk. Thus\, we are left with extra time to ponder what to say next. \n\n\n\nWe may admit\, that occasionally\, we are poor listeners. We fail to give someone our full attention. We know that from time-to-time\, we react to what we thought we heard and not what someone said. \n\n\n\nHow do you improve listening skills and show others you hear what they say and react appropriately? \n\nWe will review techniques to sharpen listening skills that will help you make fewer mistakes\, cause less office friction\, smooth over troubled waters and calm emotional \n\nclients\, suppliers and colleagues. Although we will not learn how to walk on water\, our co-workers\, bosses and vendors may think we do after attending Listen: Be Brilliant!\n\n\n\nThe Inner Listening Game\n\n Develop a Personal Mental Listening Game Plan\n\n Practice techniques that will help you more effectively manage that staff member who is constantly in crisis and has earned the reputation as the Office Drama Queen or King. \n\n Accept that everyone can be a great listener\, if you're willing to try.\n\n Learn new improved communication techniques\n\n\nSpeaker Bio:\n\nAn international speaker\, author\, negotiator and body language expert. Mary A. Redmond negotiated contracts on behalf of the largest financial institutions in the world including GE Capital\, Ford Financial\, Mellon Bank and Wells Fargo Bank. Today she works with people and corporations who want to improve the outcomes of every business relationship\, negotiation or conflict. \n\n \n\nShe coaches and works with business professionals who:\n\n Want to achieve more personally and professionally.\n\n Are willing to face fears and make tough choices to change behaviors.\n\n Make mistakes and continue to pursue dreams. \n\n Honestly accept responsibility for their actions and the associated consequences. \n\n \n\nWorkshops include hands on opportunities for attendees to:\n\n Practice new principles to read and interpret your Co-Negotiator's Body Language \n\n Sharpen listening techniques to develop improved business partnerships. \n\n Think and act creatively when relationship are in jeopardy.\n\n \n\nShe created three communication processes that change behaviors\, improve relationship and increase an individual's self-confidence.
