DESCRIPTION:Join us for part 2 of our Gender IQ Series with a panel discussion about how we prepare the next generation to not be faced with some of the same challenges we are faced with today around gender parity\, harassment\, diversity (and a true appreciation for it)\, micro-aggressions\, unconscious bias\, etc. \n\n\n\nOur guests will explore question like: How are the things youth are exposed to today impacting the leaders we will see tomorrow? How have we seen today's youth rise up against some of these issues and how do we keep the positive momentum going? In what ways can parents\, educators\, family members\, mentors positively influence eliminating the barriers we experience today? And many other important questions \n\n\n\n\n\nPanelists include: Cathy Tisdale\, CEO of Camp Fire\; Joy Wheeler\, CEO Girl Scouts\; David Byrd\, CEO of the YMCA\; Candy Brooks Vice President\, Whole Child Programs & Operations at The Boys and Girls Clubs of Kansas City.\n\n\n\n\n\nSpeaker Bios: \n\n\n\nCathy Tisdale: In 2010\, Cathy was appointed President and CEO of Camp Fire. Her national leadership roles have included: National Association of Women Professionals "Woman of the Year"\; Chair\, National Collaboration on Youth\; Nonprofit Leadership Alliance Executive Committee and Board of Directors\; America's Promise Alliance Trustee\; Grantmakers for Effective Organizations (GEO) Nonprofit Advisory Board\; and Board of Governors for the Academy of Education Arts & Sciences.\n\n\n\nDavid Byrd: With more than 39 years of service at YMCAs across the country\, David Byrd leads the YMCA of Greater Kansas City with a passion to ensure a brighter future for children\, teens and families. He began his current role in June 2010\, and is leading the organization through a new 10-year strategic vision plan. The vision\, Safe Passage: Passport for Life\, is that people of all ages have access to the resources and experiences that provide safe passage through life's many chapters\, ensuring a passport for life. As part of this vision\, the Y has a goal of impacting one out of four youth in Kansas City from birth to 24 years old.\n\n\n\nCandy Brooks\n\nIn her position as Vice President\, Whole Child Programs & Operations\, Candy provides the leadership necessary to successfully transition the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Kansas City to a new era marked by a new youth development strategic framework.  She continues to apply her previous work in problem-based learning and cross-curricular instruction to meet the needs of the members in the Clubs\, and provide innovative solutions to the challenges our members face in achieving 100% high school graduation with post-secondary plans.\n\n\n\nJoy Wheeler\n\nJoy Wheeler\, CEO of Girl Scouts of NE Kansas and NW Missouri\, provides strategic direction for the preeminent leadership development organization for girls. This role is perfectly suited for Joy's passion to help women achieve their highest potential throughout all stages of life.\n\nCommitted to Girl Scouts' mission to build girls of courage\, confidence\, and character\, who make the world a better place\, Joy's diverse and extensive leadership background provides her the insight and skills to execute the Girl Scout Leadership Experience and programmatic focus on four critical areas: STEAM\, Entrepreneurship\, Outdoor Experiences\, and Civic Engagement.
