DESCRIPTION:Lessons in Leadership is for leaders eager to grow. Join fellow CXers for a conversation with a woman leader in the community\, so you can grow in knowledge\, learn from others\, and identify ways to stretch yourself.\n\n\n\nEach session our Lessons in Leadership facilitator\, Julie Klima\, founder and chief strategist at Purpose Amp\, will interview a guest woman in leadership who will share their experience and philosophies. September's special guest is Astra Garner\, Executive Director at Junior League of Kansas City\, Missouri.\n\n\n\nWhether you are a manager or project leader\, new entrant to the workforce with company leadership on the horizon\, an entrepreneur leading in a variety of ways\, or an executive\, you are welcome to join Lessons in Leadership. Real discussion leads to evolving mindsets and behaviors\, and CX's environment is comfortable for open discussion and sharing.\n\n \n\n\n\n\n\nAstra Garner has over a decade of leadership experience driving impact in healthcare and community organizations. As Executive Director of the Junior League of Kansas City\, she champions leadership development and community engagement.\n\n \n\nA native of Kansas City\, Astra holds bachelor's and master's degrees from Northwest Missouri State University and UMKC\, respectively\, along with certificates from Cornell and Villanova. Her dedication to representation earned her the KC Chamber's 2021 Ace Award.\n\n \n\nA Pinnacle 2024 alum of the KC Chamber's Centurions leadership program\, Astra serves on the boards of Girl Scouts of KS & MO\, Support KC\, and KC Friends of Alvin Ailey. As time permits\, she also volunteers with The Hope Center and Children's Mercy KC and is an active member of the Kansas City Missouri Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority\, Inc.\, where she mentors middle school girls through Delta Academy. Finally\, Astra is a wife and mom to two busy daughters.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nJulie Klima is the founder and chief strategist at Purpose Amp\, helping purpose-minded organizations amplify their impact and turn passion into action. Julie is a passionate advocate for a thriving nonprofit sector and has more than two decades of cross-sector experience leading teams through growth and change.
