Join us as we hear from authors and engage in thoughtful conversation regarding their work.\n\n \n\nIn You Might Be an Asshole but it Might Not Be Your Fault\, Dr. Katie Ervin shares a solution to how we help develop the bad leaders around us. She is a firm believer that most people don't want to be bad\, they just don't know what they don't know.  In this book\, we follow Mike\, who exemplifies this type of ineffective leader.  Mike was modeling the behavior he had seen throughout his life.  He had early success by being an asshole\; however\, it was not until he received a leader title that his behavior caught up with him.  \n\n\n\nThe book is rooted in Dr. Katie Ervin's research on workplace motivation and employee satisfaction.  Her research and 22 years of human resources/operations experience are the roots of the book.  She created a workplace model called the Catalyst Workplace Model and a leadership development program called L.EA.D.E.R.s.   It is her belief that we can all be better leaders\, we just have to know and do the work!\n\n\n\nDr. Ervin will discuss the book and answer questions. Throughout her career\, she has established a reputation as a transformational leader driven by challenge\, undeterred by obstacles\, and committed to furthering standards of excellence. Dr. Ervin believes that her work is all about the people!  Her work in developing strong leaders and teams focuses on critical career skill building to develop strong cultures and grow organizations.  How do we get the right people\, in the right places\, doing the right job? \n\n\n\nDr. Ervin has a unique portfolio of academic\, government\, corporate\, and non-profit experience.  Coupled with her work experience\, Dr. Ervin has taught Organizational Development and Human Resources courses for the past 18 years.  Her writing has been featured as a member of the Forbes Human Resources Council\, Brainz Magazine\, and Authority Magazine as well as multiple podcast appearances. \n\n\n\nDr. Ervin's area of research is workplace motivation based on self-determination theory and the impact of an employee's perception of their organization's support.
