DESCRIPTION:Please join Esther George\, UMKC alumni and former President and CEO of the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City and Wendy Doyle\, President & CEO of United WE\, along with researchers Dr. Sirisha Naidu\, Associate Professor at UMKC and Dr. Jacquelyn Eidson\, alumnus of UMKC\, in looking at the experiences of women working at the Federal Reserve banks in Missouri through a lens of history\, progress and promise in the traveling exhibit "The Voices of Missouri Women in the Federal Reserve."\n\nThis exhibit highlights the voices - past and present - of several trailblazing women from the two regional Federal Reserve banks in Missouri. \n\nHow might their career journeys inspire you? \n\n\n	Their stories speak to the advancements and challenges women have faced\, the camaraderie and mentorship they found\, and the ways they helped increase our awareness and understanding of the economy. \n	You will hear their voices throughout this exhibit\, then be introduced to them at the end. Eight themes emerged from their journeys and are displayed on eight separate panels in this exhibit. \n	These stories are meant to educate\, inspire and be celebrated.\n\n\n\n\nProject Researchers:\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nExhibit Collaborators:\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nEsther L. George was president and chief executive officer of the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City and a member of the Federal Open Market Committee from 2011 to 2023. Her Federal Reserve System service spans more than 40 years including considerable experience as a bank supervisor.  In 2009\, she served as the Federal Reserve's acting director of Banking Supervision and Regulation in Washington D.C.\n\n\n\nGeorge was actively involved in the Federal Reserve's work to ensure the smooth and efficient functioning of the nation's payment system\, including leading the effort to establish instant retail payments known as the FedNow Service.  She hosted the Kansas City Fed's annual Jackson Hole international Economic Policy Symposium.\n\nAs president and chief executive officer\, she led a workforce of 2\,100 Federal Reserve employees serving the seven states of the Tenth Federal Reserve District through the Bank's headquarters in Kansas City and its branch offices in Denver\, Oklahoma City and Omaha. Under her leadership\, the Bank was known for its community engagement\, leadership development and technology services.\n\n\n\nGeorge currently serves on the boards of the Hallmark Corporation\, the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation\, the Peterson Institute for International Economics\, the National Bureau of Economic Research\, the Committee for a Responsible Federal Budget\, and the Kansas City 2026 World Cup.   \n\n\n\n\n\nDuring her 11-year tenure at United WE\, Wendy Doyle has led the organization to invest in research\, advocacy\, and policy solutions to remove economic barriers for women\, including conducting 30+ meaningful research studies\, advocating for issues resulting in 57 policy actions\, and supporting more than 200 women in securing civic appointments. Wendy advocates for reforms that honor the legacies of women\, and contributes to policy solutions that advance equal pay\, paid family leave\, affordable childcare and occupational licensing\, among others.
