DESCRIPTION:The Women in Science\, Technology\, Engineering\, Math\, and Medicine Committee (WiSTEMM) focuses on supporting women in STEMM careers to enable them to thrive and grow in what have historically been male-dominated fields. Women need support throughout their careers\, but one critical juncture arrives early\, within 5-7 years of finishing their degrees. What if we could help young women build networks and develop skills BEFORE they get to this time in their lives\, so that they had the tools and support that they need to remain in their STEMM careers?\n\n \n\nWiSTEMM is partnering with KC STEM Alliance to create a unique opportunity to help make this happen. Mentor Makers will train\, support\, and match women in STEMM careers with senior students in the UMKC School of Computing and Engineering. At facilitated events\, mentors and mentees will join to discuss topics important to success in early STEMM careers.  Join us for the first event on October 9 from 3   5 pm at 336 Flarsheim Hall on the UMKC Campus.\n\n\nGeneral agenda:\n\n3   3:15 pm        Mentor Guidance (Mentors only)\n\n3:15   4:15 pm  Mentoring Discussions (All)\n\n4:15   4:30 pm  Wrap up (All)\n\n4:30   5 pm        Networking (including food!)
