DESCRIPTION:In this country you are innocent until proven guilty\, right? Actually... not necessarily. Six out of 10 people in U.S. jails (nearly half a million people on any given day) are in pretrial detention for months or even years\, waiting for a trial or to go before a judge--simply because they cannot afford bail.\n\n\n\nJoin us to learn more about...\n\n	The genesis of money bail and pretrial detention and their impact on marginalized populations\n	The inequities of the criminal punishment system\n	How community bail funds help strengthen poor and underserved people and neighborhoods\n\n \n\nSpeaker Bio\n\nChloe Cooper is co-founder of the Kansas City Community Bail Fund\, a revolving bail fund that posts bail for those who cannot afford it themselves. She has worked for the reStart homeless agency as a caseworker and is passionate about making a difference in the lives of poor\, disenfranchised\, and marginalized populations.
