DESCRIPTION:As our world becomes more diverse\, so do our workplaces. It is critical now more than ever to have a neurodiverse business\, which means fostering a culture where individuals may think\, act\, and learn differently.  \n\n \n\n\n\n\nWhat is neurodiversity? "The range of differences in individual brain function and behavioral traits\, regarded as part of normal variation in the human population (used especially in the context of autistic spectrum disorders)." Oxford Languages \n\nDuring this program\, you will learn examples of developmental diagnosis and the potential superpowers they hold. We will discuss the tools that are needed to create and support a neurodiverse business\, help a neurodiverse hire succeed\, and learn how your business goals and culture can benefit. What makes these individuals special is not a barrier for them\, but a new perspective and talents that can be integrated into the right workplace. \n\nFor more than 50 years\, Job One has been providing opportunities for adults with disabilities\, employing nearly 300 people in the Kansas City area. Kim holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Saint Mary as well as a master's in psychology from University of Phoenix. Driven by a personal mission to leverage her professional expertise to help others and her community\, Kim joined Job One in 2017. She quickly moved into the newly created Director of Recruiting and Staffing position. She understands the importance of having a job you love and enjoys helping others fulfill their dreams of having a job they love too. By connecting businesses with Job One services\, such as packaging and assembly\, and working with talented candidates to deliver staffing solutions\, Kim aims to help fulfill the mission of Job One to expand job choices and opportunities in our community. Kim enjoys sports\, art and exploring Kansas City on the weekends. \n\nAnne Hochstein\, Chief Operating Officer \n\nAnne Hochstein received her undergraduate degree from Kansas State University and a Master of Business Administration from The University of Phoenix\, Kansas City Campus. She joined Job One in 2014 after a diverse career in retail management and student enrollment and advisement. Her experience includes business management\, human resources\, sales\, operations and student advisement. Anne embraces the mission of Job One and promotes new programs and services as the Director of Job One Careers. She is excited about discovering and promoting new opportunities for people with disabilities and helping them achieve their individual goals. \n\n\n\nChelsi Flores\, Director of Community-Based Day Services\n\nChelsi Flores is licensed social worker with a Master's in Social Work and holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of Missouri Kansas City. Chelsi has worked with organizations such as Alpha Pointe\, Community Action Agency of Greater Kansas City and Nourish KC. She enjoys taking walks with her pup\, traveling with her fianc \, volunteering and giving back to her community. She is originally from Saint Louis and has made Kansas City her permanent home. \n\n\n\nRebecca Swank\, Director of Community Engagement \n\nRebeca Swank is a University of Missouri graduate with a degree in Hotel & Restaurant Management. After enjoying several years in the hospitality field\, in 2010 she shifted her focus to marketing. She served as the Director of Marketing at a local health facility concentrating on expanding its brand and awareness. Rebeca experienced great success in developing community partnerships for a practical application of business growth. She is highly involved in the Blue Springs Chamber of Commerce\, her church\, and other local organizations. Rebeca is married to Nathan and they have two young children and a pup\, Chief Brody (named for a character in the movie Jaws). She enjoys family time\, movie nights\, and being a home-town tourist by taking advantage of all that Kansas City has to offer. Her favorite food is Kansas City BBQ.
