Karin Morgan will describe coronary artery disease; risk factors including inflammation & stress; ways to prevent disease; and the proper serving sizes plus test tubes of fat, salt, sugar and daily recommendations.
Karin Morgan, RN, BSN, is a clinical nurse coordinator for Mid-America Cardiology Associates at The University of Kansas Hospital. She obtained her nursing diploma from St. Luke's Hospital School of Nursing and earned a Bachelor of Science in nursing at Webster University in St. Louis, Missouri. Karin has more than 30 years of experience as a registered nurse. Although most of her work history includes cardiology and critical care, Karin has worked in a number of different areas. Some of her previous experience includes:
-- Medical ICU/CCU, St. Luke's Hospital, Medical ICU, St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester, Minnesota, (Mayo Clinic system) Post-open heart surgery step-down unit, St. Luke's Hospital
-- Cardiac rehabilitation program, phases II and III, St. Luke?s Hospital ? Mid-America Cardiology Associates (25 years)
-- Change of Heart program coordinator, The University of Kansas Hospital
-- Program Coordinator, Adelaide C. Ward Women's Heart Health Center,
The University of Kansas Hospital
Karin has a special interest in heart health and disease prevention and frequently hosts informative wellness lectures on these topics. She is an avid runner and exerciser and co-created the Girls & Moms on the Move program at Frank Rushton Elementary School, which aims to motivate and support mothers and daughters to live healthier lives and prevent heart disease. She is also involved with Vicki's Clinic, the women's heart health program, at the Kansas City Care Clinic and WomenHeart, the national coalition for women with heart disease.
