Don’t miss this Experiential Event! Bring a friend and experience the Chinese New Year with Central Exchange! Member Joan Pu will present the origin of the Chinese New Year, it’s common customs and rituals. In conjunction with Xiaofeng (Rocky) Liu, an Edgar Snow Visiting Scholar at UMKC, they will share the differences in the Chinese New Year celebration as celebrated in different areas of China, in different eras, and by different generations.
Executive Chef Peter and his team will be serving authentic Chinese cuisine while you watch a performance by The Kansas City Chinese Classical Arts Qipao Association as they showcase the charm and tradition of Chinese dresses.
Xiaofeng (Rocky) Liu is an Edgar Snow Visiting Scholar at UMKC. He has a Master's Degree in English Literature and teaches English language and English literature at Civil Aviation University of China. He is also a translator and his works include Country Wife by Jia Pingwa and Bloody Red Sun by Wu Kejing.
