CXS | Boards and Commissions in the State of Kansas - Noon
I will discuss the various opportunities to be involved in board service and walk everyone through the appointment process. During the presentation, I will briefly go over the different boards and commissions we appoint to, and what qualifications we are looking for.
Kim Borchers serves on Governor Brownback’s senior team as Deputy Chief of Staff. Prior to that role, she served the Governor as his Director of Appointments for Boards and Commissions and the Director of Personnel for Governor- Elect Brownback’s transition team. Upon graduation from the University of Kansas with a degree in Human Biology, Kim’s early career began in the healthcare industry where she was fortunate enough to break into the highly competitive pharmaceutical marketplace. She was placed on the fast track within TAP Pharmaceuticals and moved from sales to management in a short period of time. Her clients included some of the largest integrated healthcare systems in the mid-west. While taking a hiatus from the private sector to invest in her family as a full-time stay at home mom, Kim worked part-time in the radio business and was afforded the opportunity to create and host a local radio talk show program known as "News You Need to Know" on KMAJ 1440 AM.
Kim is Governor Brownback’s designee for the Kansas Jobs for America’s Graduates Board of Directors and currently serves as the chairman. She is a 2006 graduate of the Dwight D. Eisenhower Series and was recently selected to serve on the Board of Directors. She has actively served her community as a Board member for Cair Paravel Latin School (CPLS), a Sunrise Optimist Board member, an American Heart Foundation physician recruitment coordinator, a Meals on Wheels volunteer, and a summer reader for the Capper Foundation. Currently, Kim volunteers at Topeka Civic Theatre and is the head cheer coach at Cair Paravel Latin School.
Whether as a candidate herself or as a Kansan working behind the scenes supporting her favorite candidate, Kim has a strong passion for political engagement. She was the co-campaign manager for Jim Zeller for Senate, the Romney for President 2
nd Congressional District Chair in 2008, the Strategic Grassroots Coordinator for Governor Brownback’s Campaign in 2010 and the Director of Coalitions for Governor Brownback’s re-election campaign in 2014.
Kim is the proud wife of Dr. Tim Borchers, a Family Practice physician in Meriden, Kansas and the mother of three very active children, Hannah, Sydney and Jude. They reside in Topeka, Kansas.
