Join Laura Laiben, CEO of Culinary Center of Kansas City, in a conversation with Teri Rogers, CEO of Hint, formerly T2 Studios (www.hint.is) to talk about why we fear risk and how to turn that fear into fierceness.
Laura Laiben
‘Main Dish’ of The Culinary Center Of Kansas City
Laura grew up in a small German community in Missouri where her passion for the culinary arts began at a young age, making pastry dough with her grandmother while sitting on her kitchen counter. She practiced corporate, securities and public finance law for 18 years before jumping career tracks to design and open The Culinary Center of Kansas City® in Overland Park, KS, in 1996. CCKC has enjoyed continued success for 20 years, offering over 600 cooking classes and more than 200 private interactive culinary experiences and teambuildings each year,
in addition to a thriving Kitchen Shop featuring Dinners on Demand™ (chef-prepared frozen dishes). In 2016 Laura licensed a unique kitchen product called the Kitchen Boa™ which is now for sale in more than 2,400 retail stores in the U.S. and around the world.
Laura believes strongly in the magic that happens around the table and in the kitchen, as well as pursuing social entrepreneurship, commitment to community and the philosophy that “if you do good, then you’ll do good.” She was featured on the cover of a national magazine, Family Money, and is a featured speaker on the topics of small business, social entrepreneurship, risk, business and personal mentoring, career changes and the practice of following your heart when it comes to your career. Laura has published two cookbooks: The Best Recipes of The Culinary Center of Kansas City – First Edition (2000) and Second Edition (2013). She is currently living her dream.
