DT | Cottey College Presents: Ada, Marie & Shirley: Cultivating the Next Generation of Women in STEM - 11:45am
With the movie Hidden Figures sparking a renewed interest in women in STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math), this presentation will explore the past contributions of women to STEM, the current state of women in STEM, and discuss strategies to retain women in STEM long-term.
Catherine Volle received her AB from Mount Holyoke College and her Ph.D. from Brown University. An assistant professor of biology and chemistry, her research group at Cottey College focuses on DNA packaging and bacterial biofilm formation. She has a long history of preparing young women to enter STEM, and credits her time at Mount Holyoke with igniting her passion for science.
