Over the last 10 years, the Health Care Foundation of Greater Kansas City has provided more than $200 million in grants to eliminate barriers to health in the Kansas City region. The Decade of Difference report examines how health has changed, what it looks like now and what still needs to be done in the future. By working closely with community organizations, HCF and its partners have changed the landscape of health, from legislation prohibiting indoor smoking, to programs that make it easier for the vulnerable to seek treatments, to encouraging collaboration so patients receive the most comprehensive care. Dr. McCandless will share key findings from this report and discuss the future of health in this region.
Dr. Bridget McCandless is the President and CEO of Health Care Foundation of Greater Kansas City. Prior to joining HCF in 2013, Dr. McCandless served as medical director of the Shared Care Free Clinic of Jackson County (formerly the Jackson County Free Health Clinic). Dr. McCandless’ specialty is Internal Medicine, with a special focus on chronic disease management of low-income, uninsured individuals. Currently, Dr. McCandless serves as a commissioner of Healthy KC, a community-wide initiative launched last year to promote the well-being on the entire Kansas City region.
