Life can be stressful and frustrating. Learn simple, doable techniques to help deal with the not-to-fun parts of your day. It may not be possible to eliminate the causes of our stress, but it is possible to feel relief from unavoidable frustrations.
Health and Wellness Consultant Lisa Murphy offers a strategy to incorporate gentle stretching, breathing techniques, and other mindfulness practices into your everyday activities so that you can effectively manage your stress. Not only do simple mindfulness practices make us feel better, but they also affect our physiology. Learn the science behind these practices and how to create space in your busy day to train not only your body, but also your breath and your mind. Expect immediate results that will improve your quality of life and increase your productivity.
Lisa Murphy grew up in small town Iowa, earned a degree from the University of Iowa in actuarial science, and logged 12 years in corporate America, most recently as Vice President of Sales and Marketing for a reinsurance company, before moving to Dubai in 2003. The next ten years she traveled the world teaching yoga and studying meditation and Eastern philosophy, which changed the trajectory of her life.
After repatriating to Kansas City in 2012, Lisa's transition left her feeling unstable and seeking grounding. With so much uncertainty, she immersed herself in her passions: cooking, practicing yoga and spending plenty of time on her meditation cushion. With a renewed self-awareness, she recognized that yoga has benefits well beyond sculpted arms, that meditation calms and empowers your mind, and that being true to yourself is the only way to achieve ultimate success and happiness.
With experience teaching cooking classes, leading international yoga events and conducting corporate stress management seminars, Lisa now combines her passions with her business background. She designs customized health and wellness programs, including diet, exercise and mindfulness coaching for individuals and organizations, teaching mindful practices for healthy living.
