DT | The Informed Fashionista and How to Become One | 5PM

We all want to look and feel confident in our clothes, however, being fashionable has its challenges, which can be confusing and costly. Through this special panel discussion with Jennifer Niehouse of it’s so U! and Heidi Herrman of Heidi Herrman Design, you will learn about wardrobe ‘investment pieces’, gain insight on shopping trips, quality rather than quantity, which can be more fulfilling, and discover that you, too, can afford bespoke garments.

Jennifer and Heidi want you to enjoy fashion and become educated on how to make your wardrobe 100% wearable!

About the Speakers

Heidi Herrman
has extensive apparel industry experience spanning 20+ years and encompassing nearly all parts of the globe.  She began her career in the early 1990s in San Francisco during the children’s wear boom and gained great experience from working in a family owned business.  From there she spent the greatest portion of her career in New York City, designing clothing lines for everyone from Puma to Dollhouse.  Currently she resides in Kansas City working as a Merchandising Manager for Omni Apparel Inc. and designs and produces women’s garment under her namesake brand, Heidi Herrman.  She draws inspiration from street fashion, photography and architecture.  In particular, she is fond of the sculptural quality in Japanese design and likes to embrace the femininity of silhouettes from past eras.  Heidi designs modern feminine fashions for women ages 30-65 and one of her goals is to bring a thriving apparel manufacturing industry back to Kansas City. Her designs can be seen at

Jennifer Niehouse
is a wardrobe stylist and owns her company it’s so U!. She’s established a simple and effective 3-step process for a 100% wearable & stylish wardrobe:
edit, shop and style.
Her clients are women, men, the LGBT community, teens, and pre-teens.

She received her bachelor’s degree at MU in Fashion Design with a minor in Journalism. Following almost 18 years as a typography designer at Hallmark Cards and embracing the Kauffman Foundation’s FastTrac program, Jennifer turned her love of fashion into a full-time career. She strives to keep Kansas City’s community looking effortlessly and comfortably stylish whatever your days or nights look like, from casual or professional or dressy.

In addition to her one-on-one client business, Jennifer has recently launched Brand U, which develops customized corporate programs on workplace attire, demystifying ‘business casual’. Her program encourages workplace attire reflecting a company’s brand and culture without compromising the employees’ fashion and individuality.
