**Special Interest Group (SIG)**
It’s a gardener’s dream to stay healthy and be able to have safe fulfilling gardening experiences throughout a lifetime. Knowing what ergonomic tools to use; using proper body mechanics; exercising practical gardening practices; selecting the right plants for the right places along with maintaining flexibility and strength may allow the gardener to achieve such dream.
Johnson County Extension Master Gardener, Joyce Householder, has her Masters in Physical Therapy and teaches gardening classes to physically challenged adults. She also volunteers her time at the K-State Research Center, the Backyard Garden and Native Wildflower Garden.
