Since 1971, Operation Breakthrough has been providing a safe and nurturing environment for many of the most vulnerable children in our community. Every day, Operation Breakthrough cares for over 400 children, ages six weeks to 13 years old. Started by two nuns with a passion for giving all children access to the services they need to develop a strong educational foundation and a healthy life, Operation Breakthrough has grown into one of the most impactful organizations in the Kansas City community.

More than 87% of the families served, live below federal poverty guidelines.
20% of the children are homeless or on the verge of homeless

From the educational resources provided to children, an onsite medical clinic serviced by Children's Mercy, trauma recovery and general counseling services, food pantry and now the new STEM facility, children and their families have a better chance for a successful future because of the important mission work of Operation Breakthrough.
