IN-PERSON | Lessons in Leadership with Julie Klima and Special Guest, Pattie Drake
Lessons in Leadership is for leaders eager to grow. Join fellow CXers on the 1st Tuesday every-other month for a conversation with a woman leader in the community, so you can grow in knowledge, learn from others, and identify ways to stretch yourself.
Each session our Lessons in Leadership facilitator, Julie Klima, Executive Director at Gift of Life, will interview a guest woman in leadership who will share their experience and philosophies. June's special guest is Pattie Drake, SVP, Chief Commercial Officer at Trevena.
Whether you are a manager or project leader, new entrant to the workforce with company leadership on the horizon, an entrepreneur leading in a variety of ways, or an executive, you are welcome to join Lessons in Leadership. Julie Klima is the executive director of Gift of Life, a Kansas-based non-profit that supports the awareness and success of organ, eye, and tissue donation and transplant locally and around the country. With more than two decades of experience working at the intersection of customer experience, marketing, and technology, Julie thrives using her breadth of nonprofit and private sector experience to add value to the community and loves learning with and from other strong female leaders.
Patricia Drake is currently the Senior Vice President and Chief Commercial Officer of Trevena, Inc. a small-cap biopharmaceutical company focused on the development and commercialization of innovative medicines for patients with central nervous system (CNS) disorders.
She retired from Merck & Co. Inc., after a 32-year career. While at Merck, Ms. Drake held numerous U.S. and international roles in marketing, sales, operations, and strategy. Prior to her retirement in May 2021, she served as Managing Director and CEO of Merck, Sharp & Dohme (MSD) Finland Oy, where she increased the profitability of the company by 30%. Prior to that, she was Vice President of the Hospital Business Unit in Canada, where she led the successful launch of multiple commercial products, and vaccines and devised innovative sales force deployments. As Associate Vice President of, “The Americas”, based in Mexico City, Ms. Drake grew a 1.2-billion-dollar mature brands business for South America.
Ms. Drake is a widely respected, influential, and inclusive leader with a consistent track record of exceeding financial performance targets. She has extensive international experience and is routinely asked to take on leadership roles in areas of need for an organization. An authentic communicator, passionate about bringing out the best in others which leads to organizational success.
