IN-PERSON | Midwest Nice: The Culture We Never Chose and Skill We Can
In one hour, participants will learn the difference between Midwest Nice and Midwest Kind, take a live self-assessment to see where their own habits land, and leave with language for a pattern that shapes how they lead, manage, and show up at home. This is not a lecture, it's a working session!
What the room walks away with:
- A clear, research-grounded distinction between Nice (protecting the relationship at everyone's expense) and Kind (putting the other person first, even when it costs something)
- A personal self-assessment score, taken live, showing where their own default habits sit
- Language they can use immediately in team meetings, one-on-ones, and at home
- A clear next step for anyone who wants to build this as a skill, individually or as a team
Dr. Laura Janusik is a communication researcher, executive coach, and author based in Kansas City. Her work on listening and workplace communication has shaped how leaders across the Midwest think about the habits they never questioned. Midwest Nice is the subject of her forthcoming book with Streamline Press.
