VIRTUAL — Courageous Conversations | Misconceptions and Misunderstandings Around Critical Race Theory: Race and Racism in Our Education Systems

VIRTUAL — Courageous Conversations | Misconceptions and Misunderstandings Around Critical Race Theory: Race and Racism in Our Education Systems

As our educators are facing questions about critical race theory and The 1619 Project in our K-12 curriculum, there continues to be confusion on what exactly critical race theory even is. Is it a way to examine how race and inequality have impacted American institutions throughout history? Or is it a way to further divide our nation and make white children feel guilty? What exactly is being taught in our schools?

Join us as we dive into these topics and answer more of your burning questions.

  • Understand the basic tenets of critical race theory
  • Dispel the common misconceptions around critical race theory
  • Discuss resistance to incorporating America's history of race and racism in education the curriculum
  • Understand how this theory moved from the legal landscape, to education, to legislatures across the country
