DT | Women with Wisdom
Aveen Noori is the December 14 speaker for Women of Wisdom. A Kurdish native of Iraq, she had to leave Iraq and seek political asylum in the United States over 22 years ago. On December 8th 1996 each member of her family was dispersed to a different part of world. Turkey, Iraq, Iran, Germany, Holland. At one point most of her family members did not know how the others were doing, and that was all not by choice.
And that is why Aveen looks up the term that people say in English “War Story”
"war story" took on a more figurative meaning, and nowadays such accounts can encompass challenges in the workplace, on the campaign trail, in sports, in one's travels . . . wherever difficulties need to be overcome.
True war stories, but in the same time I call them true memory treasures of family and friends. I only have the privilege of saying this because I got out?!? I survived, changed and grow stronger to tell.
Then let us take a moment and honor children of war and their war stories.
Children that couldn't get out and stuck to be fuel and continuation of war ruins.
To honor innocence and purity of millions of children around the world.
