Summary
The Sr R&D Scientist role is an experienced position responsible for performing very complex analytical and/or engineering functions on assigned projects of broad scope by applying advanced knowledge of mathematical, scientific, and/or engineering technologies.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Prepares evaluation reports, analyzes discrepancies, suggests, and executes solutions.
- Independently prepares product or project definitions, and/or lab testing methods.
- Partners with internal and external stakeholders to resolve complex design, development, production, and acceptance issues.
- Develops procedures to implement proper quality controls.
- Performs and documents very complex tests/experiments to analyze and correct problems.
- Provides mentorship, advice, and insight to other engineers/scientists to ensure project and product compliance.
- Stays current with relevant emerging technology and business trends.
- Recognized as an emerging technical leader within the organization.
- Prepares comprehensive proposals, schedules, and cost estimates; may set, modify and/or negotiate schedule changes and dates.
- Independently develops and documents improvements/innovations.
You Must Have
- Six or more years of relevant experience in analytical, scientific, or related technical activities.
- Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Chemistry, Physics or equivalent.
- Ability to travel up to 20% of the time .
- Ability to work remote, hybrid, or on-site as directed by management and is determined by the needs of the business.
- United States Citizenship.
- Regular and reliable attendance is an essential function of this job.
- Ability to obtain and maintain, if required for position, a U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) security clearance (some positions require additional DOE designations)
We Value
- Experience in a role related to laboratory testing and analysis in Analytical Chemistry.
- Experience with ICP/MS analysis is required.
- Experience with various aspects of Analytical Chemistry such as wet chemistry, bench chemistry and other methods. Experience with DSC/TGA analysis is highly desirable.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with customers.
- Advanced degree in Chemistry or Physics preferred.
- Some positions within this classification may require unique engineering expertise related to a particular discipline.
- Ability to perform highly complex calibration and measurement services, recommend changes in calibration procedures to improve services, and solve special measurement problems.
