Data Architect
OVERVIEW
The Data Architect is responsible for aligning with the principal architect in managing all activities
related to the Technology department including Business, Technology, and Data
Architectures. They work as an integrated part of solution delivery teams to ensure solutions
meet business needs while remaining in alignment with architecture standards.
The Data Architect is responsible for optimizing the productivity, resilience, and cost of the
software delivery lifecycle of the organization via managing Business, Technology and Data
Architectures. This position actively searches, creatively designs and implements effective
methods to increase the productivity of the Technology department using architecture principles.
The Data Architect proactively coordinates with stakeholders on architecture changes to ensure
positive communication of all technology related changes.
REPORTS TO
The Data Architect reports to the Principal Architect in the Technology department.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
The essential duties for this role include, but are not limited to:

● Excellent communication skills with ability to explain technical concepts to business
audiences.
● Use collaboration to develop consensus and buy in from Technology staff on technology
and data architectures.
● Assist the Principal Architect as needed to work with key stakeholders to gain
understanding of organization strategy to create and maintain business, data, and
solution architectures that allow rapid delivery of business innovation and resilience in a
rapidly changing organization.
● Strong understanding of DevOps principles. Work with DevOps engineers to aid transition
of solutions into Operational environments.
● Execute code reviews and work with the development team and managers to ensure that
Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) and Architecture principles are adhered to in
delivered solutions.
● Design, develop, test data systems to meet business needs in compliance with the
Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC).
● Experience developing Services Oriented Architectures (SOA), with a keen understanding
of proper data architecture principles that support Microservices architecture.
Help Software Engineers resolve design or development problems.
● Accurately communicates pertinent information. Assists in the development and
implementation of data quality improvement efforts.
● Solves problems and makes decisions on a daily basis relative to data architecture
responsibilities.
● Assist Principal Architect with Research and development of Proof of Concepts on new
technologies that provide business value.
● Working knowledge of infrastructure including servers, storage, firewalls, load balancers,
routers, etc.
● Exemplify the desired culture and philosophies of the organization.
● Work effectively as a team member with other members of management.
● Other duties as assigned.
ROLE SPECIFIC DUTIES
● Own data architecture for the overall organization.
● Design and Develop data warehouse/lakehouse strategies for the organization.
● Discover, organize, document, disseminate and execute an organizational data strategy.
● Design, develop, document, and maintain a data governance program.
● Partner with Technology stakeholders to apply data security best practices.
● Oversee organizational data integration efforts including data analysis, ETL/ELT,
visualization.

● Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science
● Experience as a data architect or have a minimum of 7 years of experience in data engineering/data management
● SQL
● Python
● AWS
● Data warehousing strategies and tooling
● Data Architecture
● Real time systems
● Mentoring engineers on best practices in programming, query optimization, and business tact
● Working directly with stakeholders to create solutions.
