 Joy Wheeler has been CEO of Girl Scouts of NE Kansas & NW Missouri since October 1, 2013.  Joy is an accomplished executive with more than 35 years of experience in healthcare and community leadership.
 Joy Wheeler has been CEO of Girl Scouts of NE Kansas & NW Missouri since October 1, 2013.  Joy is an accomplished executive with more than 35 years of experience in healthcare and community leadership.
Joy’s past experience includes:  launching a community based Medicaid, managed care- company serving Kansas and Missouri.  The company was sold with a $100 million return from its beginning investment of $5 million.  Joy has held other senior leadership roles including Vice President and General Manager of the Kansas City office for CIGNA Health Plan; Vice President of Medical Relations with Simmons Foundation; and Senior Healthcare Consultant with Towers Perrin.  Joy has extensive background in merger and acquisition processes including organizational consolidation, expansion and divestiture. 
Joy has a Master’s degree in Public Administration from the University of Missouri-Kansas City and a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from the University of Kansas. 
She has received many community awards including Top 25 Business Women of Kansas City; Small Business Association’s National Executive Women and Business Champion of the Year; Alumnus of the Year by the University of Kansas School of Nursing; Alumni Achievement Award, University of Missouri Kansas City Bloch School of Business; and twice, Kansas City’s Top 10 Small Businesses.
Joy has served and is currently serving on many boards including Kansas University Medical Center Advancement Board, Development Chair; Kansas University Institute for Advancing Medical Innovation; Kansas School of Nursing Board; and University of Missouri-Kansas City Board Trustees and Executive Committee.  She is also a past Board member of Greater Kansas City Chamber of Commerce, and past Chair of Truman Medical Center Foundation Board.
