Building A Resilient KC presented by Dr. Carolyn Cottrell
Recently, Central Exchange participated in The Chalkboard Project by hosting at each location a “Resilience Is . . . “ chalkboard. CX members were invited to share their strengths and advice for staying strong when times get tough. The project is an effort by Resilient-KC to raise awareness of trauma and resilience as a community health issue. Come find out the ways we are learning about and treating trauma in the Kansas City region.
All communities face the consequences of neglecting to cherish and protect our children. Resilient-KC’s goal is awareness of the damages of poverty, neglect, abuse, violence, and addiction have on children. Children with these challenges grow up with many physical and mental health issues. We live and work alongside them. In our workplaces, schools, hospitals, courts, armed services, and communities, with awareness, we must begin to ask, “What has happened to you?” instead of “What is WRONG with you?” Please join Dr. Carolyn Cottrell, who will describe some of the achievements of Resilient-KC.
