DT | The GDPR and KC: The Impact of the European Union’s General Data Protection Regulation on Kansas City Entities
The EU’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) has unprecedented extra-territorial reach. Many local entities are subject to this new law. Penalties for non-compliance are significant-- as high as 20 million euros or 4 percent of annual worldwide revenues. Organizations to which the GDPR applies must not only takes steps in furtherance of their own compliance, but also to help ensure that any vendors that they permit to access EU personal data are compliant.
