DT | The Other Side: Kansas City Stories You (Probably) Don't Know
Joe Dandurand, Executive Director of Legal Aid of Western Missouri, is uniquely positioned to express what "the other side" is like for millions of Kansas City residents. His organization helps achieve justice for deserving people without the resources or knowledge to access available services, go to court, win battles. His real-life stories will demonstrate how we do, and can, make our city safer, stronger, more equitable for all people. It will be information we should all have as informed residents of greater Kansas City.
Speaker Bio:
When Joe Dandurand joined Legal Aid of Western Missouri as its Executive Director in February of 2017, he brought with him an abundance of experience and passion. Immediately before this, he was Deputy Attorney General for the State of Missouri, serving as the equivalent of the COO for 185 attorneys and 200 lay staff from 2009 to 2017. From March 2007 to 2009, he was an Appellate Judge for the Western District of Missouri and before that, Circuit Judge on the 17th Judicial Circuit, having been elected in 1986 as the youngest circuit judge in Missouri. Before that, he was an attorney, serving abused and delinquent juveniles in Johnson County Mo for more than five years.
