VIRUTAL PROGRAM | Neuro Diversity: Superpowers & Kryptonite, When Hiring an Individual with a Developmental Disability

VIRUTAL PROGRAM | Neuro Diversity: Superpowers & Kryptonite, When Hiring an Individual with a Developmental Disability

As our world becomes more diverse, so do our workplaces. It is critical now more than ever to have a neurodiverse business, which means fostering a culture where individuals may think, act, and learn differently.

What is neurodiversity? "The range of differences in individual brain function and behavioral traits, regarded as part of normal variation in the human population (used especially in the context of autistic spectrum disorders)." Oxford Languages

During this program, you will learn examples of developmental diagnosis and the potential superpowers they hold. We will discuss the tools that are needed to create and support a neurodiverse business, help a neurodiverse hire succeed, and learn how your business goals and culture can benefit. What makes these individuals special is not a barrier for them, but a new perspective and talents that can be integrated into the right workplace.

For more than 50 years, Job One has been providing opportunities for adults with disabilities, employing nearly 300 people in the Kansas City area. Central Exchange member, Kim Hankins, is Job One's Director of Recruiting and Staffing. Join Kim and others from the Job One team as they share tools needed to create and support a neurodiverse business, help a neurodiverse hire succeed, and learn how your business goals and culture can benefit.

Join us to...

  • Understand what neurodiversity looks like in the workplace.
  • How businesses can avoid sabotaging a neurodiverse hire.
  • Learn what tools are needed to create and support a neurodiverse business.
