HYBRID | Lessons in Leadership with Julie Klima and Special Guest, Kathy Pickering
Lessons in Leadership is for leaders eager to grow. Join fellow CXers on the 1st Tuesday every-other month for a conversation with a woman leader in the community, so you can grow in knowledge, learn from others, and identify ways to stretch yourself.
Each session our Lessons in Leadership facilitator, Julie Klima, Executive Director at Gift of Life, will interview a guest woman in leadership who will share their experience and philosophies. February's special guest is Kathy Pickering, Chief Tax Officer at H&R Block.
Whether you are a manager or project leader, new entrant to the workforce with company leadership on the horizon, an entrepreneur leading in a variety of ways, or an executive, you are welcome to join Lessons in Leadership. Real discussion leads to evolving mindsets and behaviors, and CX's environment is comfortable for open discussion and sharing.

Julie Klima is the executive director of Gift of Life, a Kansas-based non-profit that supports the awareness and success of organ, eye, and tissue donation and transplant locally and around the country. With more than two decades of experience working at the intersection of customer experience, marketing, and technology, Julie thrives using her breadth of nonprofit and private sector experience to add value to the community and loves learning with and from other strong female leaders.

Kathy Pickering is the Chief Tax Officer for H&R Block and leader of The Tax Institute at H&R Block, the go-to source for objective insights on federal and state tax laws affecting the individual. With more than 20 years of experience in tax administration, Kathy is responsible for the strategic direction and management for a team of the nation’s top experts on tax issues.
As head of The Tax Institute, Kathy oversees a group of credentialed tax experts (enrolled agents, CPAs and tax attorneys) with deep knowledge of the industry and regular, direct interaction with tax professionals and taxpayers. This team provides four key functions: 1) providing expert research and analysis to frontline tax professionals and taxpayers; 2) tax law and policy analysis; 3) leading the identification, communication, and integration of tax changes across H&R Block’s corporate structure; and 4) coordination and communication among the IRS, state and local agencies on issues affecting the tax industry.
